	Situated in the heart of the Charentais countryside. La Paloma ia a 2 star hotel offering a warm welcome and comfortable stay on the edge of the historic village of Verteuil sur Charente, with its magnificent Chateau set on the river that runs through the heart of the village.The Hotel has a small bar/lounge & restaurant serving traditional French dishes made with fresh local produce. There is a large terrace for alfresco dining that overlooks the peaceful gardens with an outdoor play area for the children,an above ground solar heated swimming pool & sun terrace for our guests. Gill & Neil Elsom, the hotel proprietors, offer a more personal & flexible service than can be found in some larger hotel chains. La Paloma provides great value for money for holidays, stop overs, business or house hunting in a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere with a family friendly focus. Pets are also very welcome.
	La Paloma has eight recently refurbished twin/double en-suite bedrooms, one with private balcony looking across the fields to the Chateau. The rooms are comfortable and have central heating,TV, Tea & Coffee facilities,Fans & Hairdryers.
	La Paloma has its own restaurant serving a mix of traditional French and Mediterannean dishes, all freshly prepared using local, seasonal produce. We offer a choice of menus du jour, set menus & a full 'a la carte', we also cater for vegetarian & vegan guests and guests with special dietary requirements.. The restaurant is open to non residents & is very popular with the local villagers. We often cater for special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries & village functions. In the summer you can dine on the terrace, in winter stretch out in front of the huge log fire with your coffee & digestifs !
	Attractions The area around La Paloma is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing, river swimming, canoeing & kayaking. Vist the Chateaux & Romanesque churches,take in the local markets,medieval villages & fields of sunflowers. Visit the bustling cosmopolitan city of Angouleme with it's pavement cafes & museums or take a trip to the vineyards & brandy houses of nearby Cognac. Futuroscope is a hour away or have lunch in La Rochelle, the Atlantic coast is less than two hours drive-a great day out for adults & children.
Price	Open all year round except the first two weeks of January. Rooms from 35€ - 55€ per night,continental breakfast included. Family tarrifs & Full or Half Board by arrangement. Discount for multiple room bookings or long stays. Menus available from 12.50€ to 28€. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, restaurant closed Sunday Evenings, Monday lunchtime & all day Wednesdays.

Directions	We are only 3km from the RN10, the main route to the south of France & Spain, 30 minutes from the city of Angouleme & 50 minutes from Poitiers. The TGV from Paris stops at Ruffec Station 5kms away. Nearest airports are Angouleme 25minutes, Poitiers & Limoges - 1 hour.
