La Chouette

87120 Les Bruges, Sainte Anne Saint Priest

Nearest town: Limoges

Richard and Jan warmly welcome you to La Chouette, in the beautiful Pays de Monts et Barrages, eight minutes from the town of Eymoutiers and half an hour from Lac Vassiviere, Limoges and the A20 motorway.

Their comfortable guest accommodation is on the ground floor of a recently converted, south facing stone barn, next to their house. It’s set in a peaceful location, with abundant wildlife, particularly birds and a beautiful view across the valley. The property overlooks a small trout stream and woods, and a barn owl lives in the top of the barn, hence the name.

Richard, a retired professional chef, invites you to join him and Jan for an aperitif followed by a mouth-watering four-course meal, prepared from fresh ingredients from the garden and market. Richard’s extensive professional experience means that with prior notice he can create a menu to take account of your special dietary needs. A continental breakfast is served, including home made preserves and if our free-range chickens are laying, and they usually are, boiled, scrambled and poached eggs are also available. If you would like to dine with us in the evening, we ask that you let us know at breakfast time or when you book.

Four rooms (2 doubles and 2 family rooms for four) on the ground floor of the converted barn just a few steps from the main house, and a fifth double room on the first floor in the house. All bedrooms have an en-suite shower room and WC. In total we can acommodate 14 people.

We specialise in food, which is Richard's passion. Almost everything we serve is home made, and we buy local produce where possible and use vegetables and fruit from our garden. Even the fresh granary bread at breakfast is home made.

Attractions

This is a beautiful area for lovers of the great outdoors, whether walking, cycling, riding or motorbiking. We are only half an hour from Lac de Vassivière and its watersports, although there are many lakes and rivers on the doorstep for the keen angler.

History abounds in the local towns and villages, and the area was a stronghold for the Resistance during WW2. Limoges, with its museums and historic streets is only forty minutes away, and is easily accessible by train, which runs through the scenic Vienne gorges from the local station at Eymoutiers.
