Nearest town: Fortwilliam

Mingulay is a Scandinavian whole log lodge , which sits on an elevated south facing site overlooking Loch Sunart, one of the most scenic areas in the U.K.

The house sits on a 12 acre estate assessed by a private road, known as Seaview Grazings , a lightly wooded hillside rising from the shores of Loch Sunart. The estate is the perfect haven for wildlife, visitors will wake to the sound of bird song and many have been lucky enough to spot our resident pine martin, roe deer and most special of all the rare wildcat that has been with us this last year.

Guests can walk down the estate and cross the road to be greeted by a large beach on the shores of Loch Sunart , here you will see oyster catchers and herons. at low tide it makes a wonderful walk and is heaven for dogs to charge around on ! If you want to see some more wildlife, a short drive to the head of the loch may reward you with the sight of playful seals and a sea otter basking in the sun.

Mingulay is only 0.5 miles from the centre of Strontian, a short walk along the shore will bring you, to post office, shops, pub, hotels, pottery, cafe and Library. The village is set around a village green centered around a magnificent copper beach. The perfect place to relax with tea & scones from the cafe.

The living /dining area is a good size and has large picture windows. The room has been recently refurbished to create a comfortable home from home, in a style to compliment the logs. Relax on your comfortable sofas and enjoy the magnificent view form your windows.

The Kitchen is well equipped and guests are provided with a welcome pack of groceries.

Mingulay has three bedrooms, a double, single and a twin. All linen and towels are provided free of charge and beds will be made for your arrival.

The bathroom is a good size with a white suite and shower over bath, heated towel rail and shaver point.

The bedrooms and bathroom are acessed form a corridoor leading form the living area, Mingulay is a large spacious home.

Choosing to stay at Mingulay will provide the perfect highland holiday. Whether you choose to relax in your pine lodge and explore the local area , or travel further afield your Lodge is perfectly placed .

Strontian is a truly unique location, a holiday here provides the rural highland experience but with amenities to hand. The village also boasts a new highschool which is also in part the Sunart centre , a facility which periodically hosts plays, concerts and exhibitions, see www.sunartcentre.org for dates.

The village itself is surrounded by many lovely walks, the community woodlands, Phemie's walk and the Ariundle nature reserve provide a lovely day out surrounded by nature, For a round trip start by heading round the community woodland , which is acessed form the community compost site at the rear of the village. While in the upper part a style takes you onto a newly constructed section of walk which leads across the hills of Strontian which provides fantastic views of the village and Strotian Glen and the surrounding mountiains. This path then follows the Strontian river before joining the Ariundle nature reserve path, here you follow the river and then cross over to walk back through the ancient woodlands. You can then head back to the village by the road stopping in at Cozy Knits for lunch or afternoon tea
