Le Verger is an ideal property for family holidays near the coast or for a relaxing get-away break. Set in a quiet countryside location, it shares the vast site with two other cottages whilst being the most independant of the three and having it's own sunny terrace & large lawn garden. The grounds include acres of meadows and woodlands in which to stroll and relax, whilst watching the wildlife of this unspoilt retreat.

The facilities include a large fenced, heated pool, billiard room, table tennis, table football and children's play area. The fenced pool is 12m x 6m, depth 1m to 1.8m with 'Roman' steps and a spacious sun terrace and is heated from the start of May to the end of September. The character interior is top quality, is comfortably furnished and offers spacious accommodation for up to 8 people. The beautiful beaches of the Vendee coast are just a short drive away (7 miles) as is the village of St Michel en l'Herm (5 miles) offering shops, restaurant and bar. The pretty town of Lucon (8 miles) provides a good choice of shops, supermarkets, twice-weekly market and further restaurants. The local baker delivers daily.

Comprises: Spacious open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen, double bedroom, twin bedroom (can be made wide double on request), two twin bedrooms, two shower rooms, two separate toilets, large lawn garden, terrace with garden dining furniture & bbq. Fitted kitchen is fully equipped, including dishwasher, microwave, etc. Utility with washing machine. Satellite TV, DVD. Mixed electric & central heating. Wi-Fi broad-band Internet. Separate parking. There is horse riding available for experienced riders, pony and trap excursions and accompanied pony rides for children, by arrangement with the owners. Blankets, square pillows with pillow cases supplied. Pool open and heated from 3/5 to 27/9.

This property can be let for large groups with one or both of the two other cottages on this site, sleeping 6 each, giving a total of 14 to 20 people. A function room is also available for large gatherings letting all 3 cottages.

Facilities on site: Table tennis, games room with pool table & table football, children's play area. Pony rides (children under 12 years), pony and trap excursions, horse riding for experienced riders. These facilities are contractuel with the owners; We accept no responsability for them or any consequences thereof.

Shops:
Daily bread delivery. Bakery and simple bar/restaurant in the village of Grues (2 miles). Large supermarket at L'Aiguillon (6 miles). Shops, restaurant, bar at St Michel en l'Herm (5 miles).

Beaches:
7 miles takes you to La Faute sur Mer, superb sandy beaches, stretching along 12 miles of coastline, with dunes & pine forests, including La Tranche sur Mer (water sports, windsurfing, jet-skis, sailing), round to the port of Jard sur Mer (Clemenceau museum).

Restaurants:
Chasnais (4 miles), St Michel en l'Herm (5 miles), Lucon (8 miles) - good choice, from simple through to gastronomic. Court d'Aron (8 miles). L'Aiguillon (6 miles) - sea food specialities.

Places to visit: Colourful market at Lucon (Wednesdays & Saturdays) and at La Faute sur Mer (Sundays in July & August). Historic town and port of La Rochelle (38 miles) - street cafés, night life, boutiques, fabulous aquarium. Exotic gardens of Court d'Aron (8 miles) - lotus flower lakes. Chateau de la Guignardiere (20 miles) - children's treasure trail, picnic spots. Vinyards at Mareuil sur Lay (9 miles). Golf at Nesmy (16 miles) plus three others in the area. Fishing on the river Lay (6 miles). Indian Forest - tree adventure park (15 miles).
